Your local Fairtrade shop
Open 10am – 5pm weekdays |
St Alban's church have been running SALt
for 3 years now, because we believe in the concept of fair trade, and
want to make it better known, and more available, to local people.
Fair trade means that the producers of the goods which have been
certified as such get a fair price for what they produce or make,
rather than have to go through a middle man, who sets the price low,
and takes a cut himself. We are delighted that many fair trade
goods are now on sale in supermarkets in this country, but there are
always new products coming on to the fair trade market, which we want
to offer to people locally. In addition to food items, we also
sell gifts and cards, which are a bit different to the norm. We
can of course also order items that we don't have in stock: please feel
free to come and look at the catalogues.
SALt
is more than just fair trade, though: you will find a warm welcome
there, a chance to drop in, have a cup of tea or coffee, and a
chat. There is community information, local papers, and if
you need to book St Alban's church hall, SALt is the place to come!
